Your Data's Live! ... Now What?

It's an exciting time after all the work you've done with your internal and with the SDC team to get your product information gathered, organized, reviewed and, finally, published! CONGRATULATIONS!

Now what?

What you need to keep in mind is that your information is dynamic. Even if your data is going live at Platinum level, it's not done. Providing current and relevant data to resellers through SDC promotes your products and enhances your reputation in the market. But it requires regular attention.

What kind of images did you use? Are there better ones or more you could add? Are there enough attributes, and feature/benefit statements to make the consumer's buying decision an easy one? New vehicle data rolls out every month; does your fitment information reflect them?

And even more so, the needs of your information changes as the industry evolves. Making sure your data evolves to meet these changes ensures your brand stays current and visible to those seeking the kinds of products your make.

"Plan your work and work your plan."

Develop a plan to keep your data current and relevant. To develop this plan, consider one of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits which is begin with the end in mind, which is to keep your data current and relevant. It's important then to discover key information and timelines which helps you to build the foundation of your data strategy and plan. Some questions your and your team could answer are:

  1. How often does our key data change?
  2. How often do we launch new products?
  3. How often do we create images and other digital assets?
  4. How can we get this information to the SDC?
  5. How often should we review our previously developed data to ensure they're inline with new product info?

Once you have some of these key facts in mind, get with your SDC support team to help you implement your plan. If you need some coaching or don't know who your support team members are, contact Joe Sepeda, Product Catalog Manager, joes@semadatacoop.org, to find your team contacts.
