Heatshield Products Celebrates 30 Years of Engineering and Manufacturing Heat Barrier Products in the USA


Valley Center, CA – Heatshield Products is celebrating 30 years of business in 2015. The company started with just two products, Thermal Sleeving and Thermaflect Shield (originally called Heat Blanket), and the Heatshield Products line has grown to more than 400 products that span the automotive, marine, industrial and military markets.

When Mel Heye and his son Bruce started Heatshield Products, their goal was to engineer and manufacture the most technologically advanced and efficient thermal and acoustic shielding products the automotive aftermarket had ever seen. From the confines of the family’s two-car garage, Heatshield Products has expanded to more than 500 dealers globally. Today, Heatshield Products encompasses two manufacturing facilities with a combined total of 20,000 square feet, and the company plans to open a third facility in 2015.

Even with 30 years of change and growth, some things are the same today at Heatshield Products as they were when the company started. The company is still family owned, and every Heatshield thermal and acoustic barrier product is still made in the USA. The company maintains a design philosophy and drive to ensure every product it makes represents the latest and most innovative thermal and acoustic barrier products on the market.

We have been pioneers in the high temperature insulation business since 1985 and it’s great to be a pioneer in the SEMA Data Co-op. We participated in the beta stages and development starting back in 2012.  We consider it a real honor to be in the first group to be named Platinum Suppliers. We know how hard our team has worked to achieve this goal. We would also like to tip our hat and acknowledge the hard work of the SDC team. From the get go their service has been spectacular and wow do they have some patience. If the SDC team can help Heatshield Products take baby steps all the way to a Platinum status they can do it for any company! The SDC team definitely helped us. Before joining beta SDC our data was scattered within our own database, company software, price sheets, catalogs, web…just a mess. Now we have our data in a central point of reference that avoids errors. Customers can easily access the latest and greatest information. We even notice an increase in sales each time we improve our data set in the SDC.

We aren’t going to sit on our status though. So if you think you are going to catch us you are wrong. Being Platinum is great, but we know we can do better. Keeping our foot on the throttle has always been our mantra at Heatshield Products and we carry that to our data.
